better hearing starts here

Hearing aids have come a long way. Today’s technology is discreet, intelligent, and designed to fit seamlessly into your everyday life.

Rather than simply making everything louder, modern hearing aids are designed to make sound clearer and more distinct—helping you focus on conversations, even in challenging environments. They automatically adapt to your surroundings, reducing background noise while enhancing speech, so you can stay connected to the moments that matter.

Hearing well plays a vital role in how we communicate, interact, and experience the world around us. The right solution can be genuinely life changing.

At Tripp Hearing, we combine expert knowledge with a personalised approach, ensuring you achieve the very best outcome from your hearing aids.

styles of hearing aids

Modern hearing aids are available in a range of discreet, comfortable designs—each suited to different levels of hearing loss, lifestyles, and personal preferences.

From behind-the-ear options that offer maximum performance and flexibility, to nearly invisible in-the-ear styles designed for discretion, there is a solution to suit most people. Advances in technology mean today’s hearing aids are not only smaller, but smarter—delivering clearer sound, improved speech understanding, and greater comfort throughout the day.

We’ll guide you through each option, explaining the differences in a clear and straightforward way, so you can feel confident in your choice. Our aim is to help you find the right balance of performance, comfort, and discretion for your individual needs.

RIC Receiver in Canal

Small, discreet, and the most popular style. Offers excellent sound quality and suits the majority of hearing losses.

ITE In the Ear

Custom-made to fit your ear, offering a comfortable, all-in-one solution that’s easy to handle.

CIC Completely in Canal

A more discreet, almost invisible option, designed to sit deep within the ear canal.

BTE Behind the ear

A slightly larger style, offering more power and durability—ideal for more significant hearing losses.

Lyric 100% Invisible

Because it is placed deep inside the ear canal, Lyric is the first and only 100% invisible hearing aid.

which hearing aid is right for me?

Your audiologist will guide you in choosing the level of hearing aid technology best suited to your needs. Generally, Premium technology is recommended when hearing clearly in noisy environments and achieving the most natural listening experience are top priorities.

Advanced technology may be the right choice if hearing in noise remains important but budget is also a consideration.

Standard technology offers a balance of comfort in noisy settings and clarity in quiet, making it ideal for value-minded clients.

Finally, Essential technology is most appropriate when hearing in quiet settings and affordability are the main concerns.

FAQ's your questions, answered

Yes. A full hearing assessment allows us to understand your hearing accurately and recommend the most suitable options for you.

There are several styles, including behind-the-ear and in-the-ear designs. The right option depends on your hearing, lifestyle, and preference for comfort and discretion.

Most modern hearing aids are very discreet, with many styles sitting comfortably behind or inside the ear. Many people are surprised at how subtle they are.

Hearing aids do not restore hearing, but they significantly improve clarity, helping you hear speech more clearly and stay engaged in everyday situations.

It can take a few weeks for your brain to fully adjust. We support you through this process with guidance and follow-up appointments.

Coverage varies depending on your provider. We are happy to guide you through available options during your consultation.

Most hearing aids last around 4–6 years, depending on usage and care. Regular servicing helps keep them performing well for as long as possible.

What our clients say

Excellent help and support

I have had a hearing aid from Tripp hearing, for a long time now. I recently had to have two hearing aids, and I have been able try three different types of aids, to make sure I had the right aids to suit me. I am very happy now with my choice and that is only because Claire has worked very hard to find just the right aids for me. Claire has answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly. All the staff at Tripp hearing at Wheatley have made sure that I had excellent help and support throughout the process.

Phillipa Rallings

Recommended by my ENT
This practice was recommended by my ENT Consultant. He was right, the standard of the hearing tests and the quality of the service are excellent. The audiologist was in all ways first class, highly qualified and very pleasant. There was no pressure at all and she took as much time as needed to make sure that I was completely happy. The contrast between this experience and the equivalent high street supplier is profound. Tripp Hearing are worth every penny.

Nicholas Brummitt

Knowledgeable, patient and helpful

I have been going to Tripp Hearing for many years and just bought my hearing aids from them. The experience was great – there was a 30 day trial with no pressure to buy and loads of help and encouragement. My hearing aids are really good – pretty mind blowing in a good way. So many things I can hear that I didn’t hear before. I tried some 20 years ago but they were no where near as advanced and I had to give up wearing them. All the staff I have dealt with have been very knowledgeable, patient and helpful – but I would particularly thank Danielle who guided me from hearing test through the purchase.

Mike Greig

Thorough and careful

My hearing is much better following my appointments with Hannah and the new hearing aids she recommended. She was very thorough and careful, but I never felt pressurised into buying new aids or spending more than I felt comfortable with. I’m very pleased with the result and would happily recommend Hannah and Tara Tripp.

Mary Marzillier

Courteous, friendly and concerned service

Tripp Hearing has recently provided me with new hearing aids. I am in my nineties and worn hearing aids for fifty years. These new ones are almost miraculous, allowing me to enjoy music again, hear my wife, and grandchildren, plug the aids into the tv and dvd player, hear and partake in groups etc etc. Using bluetooth and my smart phone allows the system to adjust automatically. The Roger addon hugely extends their power. Courteous, friendly and concerned service and follow up. Expensive but worth every penny allowing me to rejoin with family and friends, music etc.
