How to use softening drops and olive oil

The night before your appointment take a firm hold of the ear; pull it gently backwards, then up and away from your head. This will make the ear canal straighter, so that the eardrops go in more easily.
Put either the prescribed amount of eardrops or a few drops of olive oil into the ear canal.
The olive oil or softening drops should be massaged in well using your index finger in deep circular movements on the tragus (small flap of skin at the entrance to the canal) this will ensure that the oil/drops are distributed well.
